Lansing Catholic High School held a casual and relaxing fundraising event in its gymnasium on Saturday, January 29th, in what has turned out to be a major fundraiser for the school.

The 5th Annual Corks and Cuisine was a culinary experience designed to support GIFTS TO GREATNESS, a teacher wish list of classroom purchases. There were various restaurants that provided delicious food, beer, and wine samples for the participants to taste. 

“This event brings the community together in a different setting,” said LCHS president Dominic Iocco. “The great part about Corks and Cuisine is that it’s transformed the school already, and will continue to do more. You look at the library, the cafeteria—that’s all from fundraisers like this one. It’s a simple focussed fundraiser that really has transformed everything here.”

Many restaurants in the Greater Lansing area brought in some of their food and drink samples for people to try. The people who came bought tickets to sample those foods and that money supports the innovative ideas for the classrooms.

Anna Richards, a student that attends Lansing Catholic, said she hopes the donations “help us learn in a better way, and help teachers be able to teach the way that they want to teach.”
