Uniform
At Lansing Catholic, we place emphasis on forming students into the Christian leaders God calls them to be by emphasizing the importance of a well-rounded individual; an individual focused not just on physical appearance, but on the human, intellectual, spiritual, and apostolic impact he or she has on those around them. School uniforms help us in this mission. Following are just a few of the benefits that support a uniform policy.
- Uniforms enable students to direct their creativity and individuality to their classes, extracurricular activities, and to the school environment as a whole.
- By wearing uniforms, socio-economic or political indicators associated with clothing are removed.
- Studies show school uniforms have a positive impact on students’ mental health.
- Uniforms help maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
- School Uniforms Help Promote School Spirit.
A complete, official uniform must be worn every day unless otherwise prescribed by the administration. All clothing worn to school-sponsored functions must be neat, clean, and modest.
With the closure of the MyAplus store, we are introducing a new online uniform store, SquadLocker, where all approved uniform items will be available for purchase online moving forward for the 25-26 school year and beyond.
Uniform Policy Update for 25-26
Normal School Day Uniform Guidelines
Students must wear a combination of the following approved items:
- Pants (required) - Any solid black pants that meet our current casual dress guidelines (no shorts, ripped/torn pants, pajama bottoms, nor form fitting pants e.g. leggings, skinny jeans, yoga pants, etc.). These do not need to be purchased through the uniform store, but an option that meets these guidelines is available within the new uniform store.
- Polo Shirts (required) - Long or short sleeve in Cougar blue (light), white, or navy blue (dark), with an approved embroidered Lansing Catholic uniform logo (shown below). Essentially all current uniform polo shirts are acceptable. Moving forward only Cougar blue (light) polos will be available in the new uniform store.

- Undershirts (optional) - White or black t-shirts or long-sleeve performance shirts may be worn under the polo. Undershirts must be shorter than the uniform polo.
- 1/4-Zip Pullovers or full-zip uniform jacket (optional) - Must be worn over the uniform polo. Solid black (poly/lycra or cotton) with an approved embroidered Lansing Catholic uniform logo. Currently, the only approved full zip option available is the one offered in the new uniform store. Hooded sweatshirts are only allowed on Spirit Wear Fridays, not on normal dress days.
- Sweaters/Sweatshirts (optional) - Black v-neck cardigans, pullover crew neck cardigans, or crew neck sweatshirts with an approved embroidered Lansing Catholic uniform logo. Must also be worn over the uniform polo. Hooded sweatshirts are only allowed on Spirit Wear Fridays, not on normal dress days.
Assessories & Footwear
Students may wear accessories and jewelry of their choice with the following exceptions: gang paraphernalia, wallet chains, overly large or otherwise distracting, large purses or backpacks should be stowed in lockers, not brought to classes
All footwear must be closed-toe with a heel strap for safety reasons. The following types of footwear are never allowed: Flip-flop style shoes or sandals, Athletic sandals or slides, Bedroom slippers, Outdoor boots (Ugg-style and Timberland-style are allowed), Crocs or Birkenstocks
In order to protect the floor in the gymnasium, shoes used for athletic or extracurricular activities in the gym must not be worn for any other purpose. Socks and hosiery are not required.
Spirit Wear Fridays
On Fridays, students may wear spirit wear tops that feature the LCHS logo and/or name including House shirts. Uniform bottoms must still be worn and hats are not allowed. Spirit wear or uniform shirts must be worn under all spirit wear 1⁄4 zips, sweatshirts, or sweaters.
Uniform Update FAQ
1. Why were skirts removed as a uniform option?
We understand and appreciate the tradition and femininity that the skirt represented. However, as we explored new suppliers, we realized that replicating the exact look and fit of the previous skirt would be nearly impossible. Any variation would unfairly single out new students—especially freshmen—and undermine one of the key purposes of a uniform: creating a level playing field. For this reason, we also chose not to “grandfather in” the skirt, as that would only widen the gap between students and create further division.
2. What about the money we've already spent on uniforms?
We know uniforms are a significant investment, and we took that seriously. That’s why we worked to find high-quality options at lower prices. The pants and jackets now available are the exact same brand we previously used—just at nearly half the cost. We’ve also allowed all existing polos to remain part of the uniform and permitted students to wear any solid black pant that meets our guidelines, which most already own.
3. Who was involved in the decision-making process?
We spoke with a wide range of people, including students, parents, faculty, staff, and even members of other school communities. Because this is a sensitive topic, many individuals requested their input remain confidential to avoid any backlash or tension. While not every opinion aligned, the feedback helped us shape a decision that best serves the entire Lansing Catholic community.
4. Why this specific uniform change—why not just take one of the suggestions we received?
As we noted in our original communication, it became clear early on that no single solution would satisfy everyone. Some families wanted to keep skirts, others wanted them removed. Some pushed for a more formal look with jackets and ties, while others felt we should eliminate uniforms altogether. In light of this, we chose a path that preserves the core benefits of a uniform—safety, simplicity, and unity—while also increasing accessibility and reducing costs for families.
