Lansing Catholic High School’s campus newspaper, The LCHS Insider, has won the First Place 2022  Scholastic Newspaper Award from American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA). ASPA is a nationwide contest for publications ranging from magazines to yearbooks. The ASPA focuses on elevating and highlighting not only the publications produced but the students who work tirelessly on them.

The LCHS Insider newspaper is a student-written newspaper which covers the daily life and culture at Lansing Catholic High School. Print issues are published each month and distributed at the school. Select articles are published online.

Journalism and AP English teacher and The LCHS Insider advisor Stephanie Van Koevering is extremely proud of the students for this achievement. “While we love the recognition, what’s more valuable to our journalism team is the knowledge that we’re on the right track with our work. Our students just began producing the paper last spring, and to have moved so quickly to earning recognition at the national level is amazing.

Editor NancyLee Bareham Class of 2023 is honored to be part of a nationally-recognized publication. “It is truly an honor and a blessing. This newspaper hasn't even been running for a whole year, and yet our school has been recognized on a level like this. It's a gift from God, not only to be honored by the ASPA, but to be blessed with a team who has the ability to make something excellent like this.”
