Longtime Lansing Catholic Boys Lacrosse
Coach Rich Kimball to Retire
Grateful Reflections of Success and Impact on Lansing Catholic Community
Lansing, Mich. (January 17, 2025) – This season brings about a significant departure for the Lansing Catholic community as boys lacrosse coach, former athletic director, and former Dean of Students Rich Kimball says farewell after many years of service.
“It is hard to say goodbye to a cherished figure who has dedicated decades of his life to the betterment of our school,” said school president Dominic Iocco. “Throughout his tenure at LCHS, Rich has exemplified dedication, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the spiritual, intellectual, and social development of our students. His influence has extended far beyond the sports field and school corridors, touching the lives of countless students, athletes, and colleagues.”
“This program would not be what it is today without the dedication and guidance of Coach Kimball,” said Kenny Goodrich, LCHS Athletic Director. “We are blessed to have him as a part of the Cougar Community.”
Kimball became athletic director and dean of students in August 2007, leaving his position as athletic director in 2016. He coached boys lacrosse from 2012, and achieved the head coach position in 2016.
LCHS officials say the decision was a difficult one for Kimball to make, and that he struggled to balance his own needs with those of the school and its students.
“Lansing Catholic does a wonderful job educating all students,” Kimball said. “The teachers and support staff are also deeply invested, and I wish the entire community all the best for a bright future.”
Kimball’s retirement doesn’t mean he won’t be actively engaged in the school and its athletic programs going forward.
“Rich will still be around,” Iocco said. “For that, we’re grateful.”
