LCHS Welcomes Jeremy Norris as Head Varsity Football Coach

Longtime educator and veteran coach steps into new leadership role, bringing faith-driven vision and strong connection to the Cougar community

LANSING, MI (June 3, 2025) –– Lansing Catholic High School is proud to announce the appointment of Jeremy Norris as its new Head Varsity Football Coach. A dedicated educator and seasoned coach, Norris brings over two decades of teaching experience and 11 years of coaching to the role.  Norris is already a familiar and trusted presence within the Lansing Catholic community as a Student Support Plans & Mastery Skills Teacher at Lansing Catholic.

“We’re excited to name Jeremy Norris as our new head football coach,” said Athletic Director Kenny Goodrich. “Jeremy has been an integral part of our school community, and his deep commitment to our students, his coaching experience, and his Christ-centered leadership make him the ideal choice to lead our program forward. When word spread that he was applying, several students—some who hadn’t planned to play—shared how much they’d love to come out for the team just to play for him. That speaks volumes.”

Norris’s coaching journey began in Grand Ledge, where he led student-athletes in basketball, football, and track from middle school through early high school levels, instilling core values of leadership, discipline, perseverance, and faith. A former starting quarterback, Norris played college football at North Park College in the fall of 1991 and later at Hope College from 1993 to 1995. His lifelong passion for the game that has shaped his life since childhood.

“Football has always been part of who I am,” said Norris. “Now, I have the incredible opportunity to combine that passion with my vocation as a teacher. I want our players to leave Lansing Catholic not just as athletes, but as young men of strong faith, character, and leadership.”

His vision for the football program is both ambitious and mission-driven: to build one of the top teams in the state, consistently earn All-State Academic honors, and foster a culture rooted in prayer, service, and integrity.

“Teaching and coaching go hand in hand,” he added. “I approach both with patience, adaptability, and a genuine desire to see students grow. Whether in the classroom, or on the field,  I’ve learned that connection and trust are what truly shape student success.”

Norris shared a memorable story from his time coaching in Grand Ledge, when a struggling student-athlete found hope and faith through their relationship—a testament to the long-lasting impact of coaching rooted in Christ. “That moment reminded me: when we lead with faith and love, God does the rest.”

“I am truly honored and humbled to serve as head varsity football coach at Lansing Catholic High School,” said Norris. “This school has a proud tradition of excellence. My goal is to honor that legacy, build on it, and lead our team with purpose and faith.”

Outside of school, Coach Norris enjoys golfing, exercising, and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Jeanna Norris, share a love for mentoring young people and watching them grow through sports.

Please join us in congratulating Coach Jeremy Norris and welcoming him to this new leadership role!
