Since the 2022-23 school year, Jr. Cougars competes in with the Capital Athletic Association Conference (CAAC) for 7th & 8th grade sports in Cross-Country, Volleyball, Basketball (Girls & Boys), and Track. 

Fall Sports

Sideline Cheerleading - K-8
K-4th Grade Flag Football Cheer - $100 - all practices and games on Mondays - no physicals required

5th & 6th Grades Tacklebar Football Cheer - $100 - all practices and games on Tuesdays with occasional practices on other weekdays - physicals are required to be uploaded

7th & 8th Grades Tackle Football Cheer - $100 - weekday practices with games on Wednesdays - physicals are required to be uploaded

Jazz Band

The Ursula Klein Jr. Cougar Jazz Band is open to students in grade 6-8 who participate in their middle school band programs. Home schooled students should have some instrumental instruction in addition to this program. Typical jazz band instrumentation includes, Alto, tenor and bari saxophones, Trombones, Trumpets, piano, bass, drum set, and guitar.  Students who play other band instruments are encouraged to join as well.  

This program will run September 5 through December 5. Rehearsals will be Wednesday after school 3:30-4:45. The final concert will be on the LCHS Instrumental Christmas Concert.

Cost for this session is $70. Students will receive a t-shirt, method book and music. Students are expected to come to rehearsals.  A  parent should email Jan.Tietsort@lansingcatholic.org if a student is unable to attend.  All students will be expected to perform at the concerts.

We offer Jr. Cougar Competitive Cheerleading for grades 3rd - 8th. 

Practices are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:15pm to 7:15pm in the LCHS Cafeteria.
Competitive season is from 08/07/23 to 11/04/23.

Spring Sports

Baseball

The first evaluation is March 16 and the registration fee is $150.

March 16 - U8 & U10 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, U12 & U14 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm - Lansing Catholic High School Gym.

Practices state in late April/early may and games begin in June and run through mid-July.

Softball

The registration fee is $150, please register by March 31.

The season will kick off with a clinic lead by our LCHS Softball team on April 17 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the LCHS Softball field.

Practices start in late April/Early May and games begin in June and runs through mid-July.

Participation in softball is a wonderful way for young athletes to build muscle strength, increase endurance, and improve their hand-eye coordination. Sports such as softball, come with understanding teamwork and the good feelings of being part of a group effort which will improve self-esteem and lay the groundwork for successful relationships. We will kick off the season with a clinic, led by our LCHS Softball Team.

U8 - All players must be 8 or under as of September 1, 2023.  Mason Girls Fastpitch Softball League
U10 - All players must be 10 or under as of September 1, 2023.  Mason Girls Fastpitch Softball League

Lacrosse - 3-8

The Jr. Cougars have joined with the Warriors Lacrosse Club to offer lacrosse for boys and girls in grades 3-8.  The teams are managed by our LCHS boys’ and girls’ lacrosse coaches.

Track and Field is a fantastic stand-alone sport for middle schoolers in 6th, 7th or 8th grade or a supplement to keep young athletes in shape. For athletes in other sports, the practices are flexible.

Tennis

Spring 2024 info coming soon!
The LCHS Tennis Teams will conduct spring clinics on April TBD, 2024 & May TBD, 2024. 

Playing tennis is a great way to develop and improve physical and mental health. As a classic sport, playing tennis will  keep young athletes physically active as well as learn about  teamwork and how to communicate with others. It also helps athletes with their coordination, and to develop attention and focus. Beginners are welcomed and everyone plays. 
Two matches will be scheduled against local organizations. Cost is $55 and includes t-shirts and drinks.
