Catholic Schools Week          January 31 to February 6, 2010

Student Fundraiser                 January 21 to February 16, 2010

The Student Fundraiser kick-off assembly is scheduled for Thursday, January 21, 2010. Student speakers and a “special surprise” guest speaker will introduce the fundraiser to the student body and ask for their support.  During the weeks of January 25 through February 8, twice weekly collections (Tuesday & Thursday) will take place in home room classes.  Students will be asked to consider a personal gift of $20 and to secure a matching gift of $20 for a total goal of $40 per student.

Our students have indicated that they want to contribute to something significant and permanent!  Thus, their dollars will be added to last year’s student fundraiser totals and will benefit Phase 3 of our Master Plan (construction and renovation of our Chapel, Auditorium and Music instruction classroom).

Involving students in our upcoming Capital Campaign and Master Plan is an objective we implemented two years ago and will continue to work on. It is our hope, that as we begin to encourage students to participate, with us, in building the future, that we will create alumni who will take an active role in supporting our school.

We endeavor to instill in students:

  • the understanding that each of us has talent/resources to share (Stewardship)
  • to build unity among students
  • to strengthen their sense of community
  • to foster a sense of ownership for the schools’ well being
  • to encourage participation in future planning
Throughout the entire collection period, participating students will earn chances to win prizes.  Prizes will also be awarded to the classroom and grade level that attains the highest level of participation and/or the greatest dollar total during the drive.  As we did last year, should the student body achieve the school goal of $10,000 (last year our students raised over $8,600!), all students and staff will be awarded a day off from school.

Our fund drive will conclude with a prize assembly on Tuesday, February 16, 2010.  A special feature of this assembly will be a student version of a popular game show. Five contestants from each grade level will be selected from the students who participated in the fund drive. Grade levels will compete against each other as a “family”.
